Emma Rawson
Emma Rawson | Sculptor
My works are inspired by living near the sea and by the tales told by my father who was for 5 years a deep-sea trawlerman. I think it’s because of those tales that I have always wanted to live near the sea and moved out of London.
The pieces are made by screen printing onto cast sheets of glass, firing these, then assembling into a mould, casting and finally cold working and polishing. The interior patterns are domestic, taken from net curtains, shadows and trees from the family home where these stories were told and heard.
