Stella Parsons

Stella Parsons | Painter

Stella Parsons was born in Staffordshire, and studied dress design at the Longton College of Art in Stoke-on-Trent.

Moving to London during the nineteen-sixties, she began a career in the fashion industry, initially as a pattern cutter at a haute couture house in the West End, before becoming a dress designer in her own right.

In 1975, she began attending private lessons at the Arthur Segal School of Painting, under the tuition of Segal's daughter Marianna.

Since dedicating herself to painting full-time, she has exhibited at galleries across London and the south-east of England, as well as in Southern California.

Since 2000 her work has appeared many times in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions

"When I paint, I always have a story to tell. I like to invite the viewer to participate and hope that they can also add their version to the tale. I paint mostly in oils, which, being an opaque substance and drying slowly, allows me to change my mind as often as I like as the story unfolds itself".
